Return to Mississippi (2004)

Awards

2005 Yorkton Film Festival
Nomination for Best Documentary – Short Subject

Synopsis:

“Return to Mississippi” revisits the story of the Neshoba County murders of 1964, the infamous “Mississippi Burning” case. Rare CBC archival footage of Malcolm X, Fannie Lou Hamer, Martin Luther King and others are counterpointed with new interviews featuring personalities at the centre of the story, then and now. The music and history of the region provide the backdrop in this build-up to the historic 2005 trial of “Preacher” Edgar Ray Killen.
