SKS Season 8: Angel Carlick

Someone Knows Something (SKS) is an ongoing investigative original CBC podcast series, written and hosted by award-winning filmmaker David Ridgen, that explores cases of the missing or murdered and unravels the visceral ripple effects on families and small communities across Canada. Each week, SKS brings audiences up close with the family that is looking for answers, the investigators who can’t quit and potential suspects – investigating theories, debunking rumours and finding new information – all through head-on pov storytelling.

Season Eight: Angel Carlick

Angel Carlick was a young 18 year old woman from the Kaska nation. She and her family, including brother Alex and mother Wendy, lived their young lives in Good Hope Lake in northern BC a beautiful community nestled beneath some pretty spectacular mountains. Eventually they moved from there to  Whitehorse to further their schooling.

In Whitehorse, Angel was a community volunteer who worked at a local youth centre where she ran programs and assisted in the kitchen as a cook. And she was just about to graduate high school in Whitehorse in May 2007 when she disappeared.

There were a number of celebrations and graduation ceremonies in the month of May and Angel attended several of them. But over the weekend of May 26th she left one of these celebrations and sometime after that, she met the person or persons who killed her. Several months passed, with no real leads in the case. Until finally her remains were found by a hiker at a newly developed suburb of Whitehorse about twenty minutes from downtown, called Pilot Mountain.

Her mother Wendy 51 and Sarah MacIntosh age 53 were murdered by a man named Everett Chief on April 19 2017. Chief was sentenced to 18 years in prison for Manslaughter.

David Ridgen works with Angel’s family and friends to find new information about the case.
