This past weekend I shot some scenes with uber-talented Inuit rapper Hyper-T at the Mamisarvik Treatment Centre in Ottawa.
We were shooting “Growing Pains” Hype’s first-ever music video.
While we were there, we met an Inuit man named Brian from Arctic Bay, NT. Brian, we learned, is recovering from a serious suicide attempt eight months ago and wanted to show Hype for the first time in public what he could do…rap in Inuktitut.
And the results are simply incredible!
Mamisarvik is the only Inuit-specific centre of its kind for the treatment of trauma and addiction in Southern Canada.
